the cloud line hovered as we made our way out 221 miles away from bad vibe city. i kept my eye on the weather, and i kept reminding everyone 47 & sunny. not a worry in sight.

it was another amazing session, got warm enough to remove layers and feel a little sweatee... after a couple of hours, we all agreed it was time to move onto the next thing. we stopped by en joy skateshop's new location. it's super rad, will have an indoor park with an 11.5 ft vert ramp... we stopped at a quickshop, then headed over to...georgie's secret garden - el duce


he said at first it was scary but he grew to love it. janky is always good, my friend.

georgie's friend, tyler, was ripping the concrete mini... he reminded me of our skaterat friend, caleb who used to come by and skate the chicken ramp until two in the morning... styler was pulling some crazy stuff, but this is the only pic i got...


after the sesh-on, we followed georgie and tyler to za za, a rad place that serves fancy pizza and salads. they wined and dined us (literally). i have no idea if vino's is the most amazing pizza on earth, but this place rules. i ate so much and still felt like i could walk. fancy flour from italy must be the secret to amazing pizza.

last weekend, we met up with the trife guys, again. i know, this is becoming a regular affair. and i don't mind a bit. see memphis has these little gems, a ramp inside a shed, a backyard bowl made of skate armor, it's only a couple hours drive to little rock or various other places and the guys welcome us with smiles and hugs. it's great to see their faces as often as possible.

i finally remember to point this out to bff trip before last and we remembered to pull over and get a shot of this. this trailer has been in this spot for as long as i can remember, way back when i was a kid and we'd drive to memphis at 55mph, i forget what company was there... but they were humpin' to please.


finally get to memphis...contemplating what to skate first, we rode the ramp for a minute, then down the driveway and out in the street. ideas were tossed around by the trife crew. hammond had a gnarly sounding spot in mind, but we ended up heading to le casa de terrytopia. it's in the older part of memphis with less noticeable effects of urban development, still larger yards with landscaping and wide lanes. older looking "homes" with huge yards keeping your neighbors at bay and you can tell there's family history here.

i'd seen tons of pics and footage. it's a lot smaller in span than i thought. the pics and footage i've seen make it look more wide open and shorter in wall size.

so that pretty much sums up the photojournaling of the day at terrytopia. i have to give this a 4.99 starts out of 5. the only thing i would change is warmer weather but hey, what can you do about mother nature? i quit taking photos about 2 hours before the session ended. a couple of kids showed up, wrex, hammond, and ulander kept ripping it up.

have to say it was a great day!! thanks memphis crew! and thanks most of all to terry and family!!

i could say i got to skate with this guy all the time every saturday at pecos back when i lived in az...but to say one skates "with" him one would mean to engage in a supreme tech skill display of skateboarding. which i lack. a super quiet guy and when he did open his mouth, he talked through a smile. nobody is like him. you rule, david smith!

which was only a 3 minute bike ride from our old house. pretty cool building and places to skate... there's also pretty fun parking garage nearby that can be a bust by nerdy golfcart jockeys. worth a 15 minute session on a rainy sunday tho...

getting out with my BFF and the memphis crew travelling to little rock are two things saving me from suck hell here in oxford. three hours away and there's so much to see and do skatewise there. not to mention, feeling at home with the locals. words can't describe the feeling i get just thinking about last sunday. everything is beautiful in little rock, except maybe the giant turds i looked down at as i squatted down by the river to release my bladder. (the bathrooms are NOT open "only on the weekend").
